The Sarah Nulty Power of Music Foundation has funded a wonderful new project being organised by the Sheffield Music School. The project is for some of Sheffield's most talented young female identifying women; supporting their songwriting and stage performance. The project also aims to help them navigate the music industry and bring in other mentees to work with and make connections with. Lucy and Gina from Before Breakfast are leading this project
They will be putting on a mini music festival on the 12th of September for some of them NTS to perform at alongside other more well established acts.
The aim of the mentorship scheme is to connect young artists with music industry professionals, providing opportunities to develop the skills necessary for developing a career in music. The scheme recognises that female identifying musicians, producers and songwriters are currently heavily underrepresented in music industries. They therefore actively recruit female identifying musicians for a program through partner work with Sheffield music hub.

Over the last few months, we have been humbled by the many people who have so kindly donated to The Power of Music Foundation by hosting Facebook birthday fundraisers.
Instead of asking for gifts, some very generous individuals including Iain, Andrew and Alex have instead asked their loved ones to donate to the Foundation.
Next week, it’s a big and special birthday for Julie, Chair of the Foundation’s Trustees and Sarah’s mum. You can support her by making a donation on Facebook, or in any of the usual ways.
Here’s a note from Julie to explain more:
Dear friends and family, as some of you know I’m celebrating my 60th birthday next week and lots of you have been asking what I’d like.
I would love for everyone who is thinking of buying me flowers or a gift or even a card, to please donate to The Sarah Nulty Power Of Music Foundation. Every £ will be used to bring the positive power of music in to the lives of those in need. I love you all.
Thank you,
Julie xx

‘The most unlikely marathon team ever’
In 2019, Sheffield hosted its annual Half Marathon. Amongst the thousands of runners taking part were a collection of mostly non-runners from Sheffield’s music industry and members of Sarah Nulty’s family.
The team raised over £15,000 for Weston Park Cancer Charity and Cavendish Cancer Care in Sarah’s memory.
