Roundabout has been working with young people with severe disadvantages since 1977, and they are now South Yorkshire’s largest youth homelessness charity. They support more than 370 young people every day who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. Their aim is to ensure than no young person is homeless, and they are committed to ending youth homelessness.
We are thrilled we could offer financial support to Roundabout. Our funding will help to enable the young people they support to develop their creative interests.
Part of the funding will be used to purchase a keyboard to have at their Sheffield Dispersed service. Some of the young people they support, play piano as a means of reducing their stress and anxiety, and to cope with depression. We hope that having a piano in a communal space within the property would also encourage other young people to learn and play, which will give them the opportunity to explore their creative side and all the positive impacts that this has the potential to give.
The remaining funds will go towards providing music lessons to anyone within the service looking to develop their artistic talents.
We hope these two initiatives bring some comfort to these young people at such a difficult time in their lives and that music offers them some escape from their day to day struggles.
